Elma Shaw experienced a coup d’état and a civil war in Liberia that set her on a path to explore and write about issues of peace and justice. Her award-winning novel, Redemption Road, with a foreword by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, inspired a documentary about women fighters who survived the war. A long-time champion for women and girls, she recently worked with The What To Expect Foundation as lead writer for Big Belly Business – the Liberian women’s guide to a healthy pregnancy. Elma currently lives in Rwanda with her husband and two children, where she is working on a new book and teaching pole and aerial dance.
Elma Shaw holds a BA in Communication Media and a Master’s in Film and Video from American University. She currently lives in Monrovia, Liberia, with her husband and their two sons. Redemption Road is her first novel. –This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
